STOFF2

Green hydrogen and energy storage in one device

Sustainable construction

Green hydrogen is urgently needed to decarbonize various industries and transport, and ideally it should also cost as little as possible. Typically, green hydrogen is produced from electricity generated from solar or wind power, among other sources. To keep costs low, it is necessary to use cheap "surplus electricity" and avoid long transport routes.

STOFF2 makes hydrogen safe, cheap and green. For this purpose, the company has developed the so-called zinc intermediate step electrolyzer (ZZE), which can both store energy between and produce hydrogen.
The ZZE system uses solar and wind power from the phases of high renewable energy production. At these times, the electricity to run the electrolyzers can be purchased very inexpensively, thus securing all the energy needed for the day in just four hours. The system then provides the energy as needed, thus securing the supply. This means that the system can also be used in Europe in particular and can provide green hydrogen where it is needed - without long transport routes, e.g. by ship.

Currently, 15 employees of Stoff2 are further developing prototypes at the site and preparing for series production. This includes not only the hardware but also the software required for the control system.

STOFF2 is in close exchange with other community members to further advance joint (pilot) projects - relaxed barbecue evenings included.
